Welcome to WealthEngine, Inc., the leading provider of sophisticated prospect search and analytic solutions across multiple industries including nonprofit organizations, financial services, and luxury goods companies.  We know you are concerned about privacy, so we developed this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) to explain how we collect, use, and disclose information on our website located www.wealthengine.com (the “Site”) and through our WealthEngine products for comprehensive wealth identification on individuals, companies and foundations (our “Services”).  This policy applies to you if you are a “Visitor” (which means that you simply browse a Site) or a “Subscriber” of the Services (which means you, your business or your employer have purchased and/or entered into an agreement with us for the delivery on one of our Services). Visitors and Subscribers are individually referred to as a “User,” and collectively, as “Users”.  If you are a “Subject”, meaning that your Personal Information is made available to us through one of our content providers, this policy does not apply to you.

To clarify the terminology we are using, when we use the phrase “Personal Information”, we mean contact information (e.g., your name, address, email address, and/or telephone number) and any other non-public information that is used or intended to be used to personally identify an individual, and information associated with the foregoing. When we use the phrase “Anonymous Information”, we mean information that is not associated with or linked to your Personal Information. Anonymous Information does not enable identification of or contact with, individual persons.

BY USING OUR SITE OR SERVICES OR SUBMITTING PERSONAL INFORMATION THROUGH OUR SITE OR SERVICES, YOU AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY AND YOU EXPRESSLY CONSENT TO THE PROCESSING OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION ACCORDING TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY.  YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION MAY BE PROCESSED BY US IN THE COUNTRY WHERE IT WAS COLLECTED AS WELL AS OTHER COUNTRIES (INCLUDING THE UNITED STATES) WHERE LAWS REGARDING PROCESSING OF PERSONAL INFORMATION MAY BE LESS STRINGENT THAN THE LAWS IN YOUR COUNTRY.

How We Collect Information


Personal Information

In general, the Personal Information we gather enables us to provide the Site and Services to you.  We collect Personal Information that you submit to us voluntarily. If there is a request for information you do not want to share with us do not complete that request for information.  When you request marketing material we may collect your name, job title, name of your business or employer, the physical address of your business or employer, your business phone number, your business or employer’s industry (e.g., non-profit, financial services company, luxury goods company), the size of your business, your business email, the donor management system used by your organization, the customer relationship management system used by your organization, whether or not you are an existing WealthEngine client, and your product interest.  We may collect similar information when you respond to our requests for feedback, answer surveys, complete a registration for a webinar or request a white paper.  If you subscribe to one of our Services we may through the Site, or in some other manner in which you voluntarily provide it, collect additional Personal Information from Subscribers, including credit card numbers and associated billing information, to charge and collect the applicable fees. We refer to this information as “Billing information”.  When you communicate with us by sending us an email, we may collect and store any information that is contained in your communications with us.

When you use our Services, we collect the search criteria you use to find information about individuals in the various public data sources that are contained within our Services.  This information may include an individual’s name, mailing address, phone number, business name or age.

Anonymous Information

As you use the Sites or Services, certain Anonymous Information may be passively collected and stored on our or our service providers’ server logs, such as your Internet protocol address, domain names, browser type, access times and the pages on our Site that you have visited.  We may use Cookies (defined below) or web bugs and navigational data like Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) to gather information regarding the date and time of your visit.  “Cookies” are small pieces of information that a website sends to your browser while you are viewing a website. Standing alone, Cookies do not personally identify you but merely recognize your web browser.  We may use both session Cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent Cookies (which stay on your browser until you delete them) to improve your experience on the Sites (e.g., by keeping you logged in).  Persistent Cookies can be removed by following your Internet browser’s help file directions.  If you choose to disable Cookies, you may experience session errors and may need to log-in again for each page you visit on the Site.

Information Covered by Agreement

Subscribers to the Services have entered into a separate agreement with WealthEngine. If the terms of that other agreement conflict with this Privacy Policy, then the terms included in that other agreement shall prevail.  Any data provided pursuant to another agreement, such as, without limitation, a test file, shall be handled according to the applicable terms in that agreement.  All Users should review all agreements between that User and WealthEngine. In all cases, the terms, of another agreement, which a Users has manifested assent to shall prevail over any conflicting language contained in this Privacy Policy. Inquiries regarding agreements between Users and WealthEngine should be directed to privacy@wealthengine.com.  WealthEngine will respond to inquiries within a reasonable amount of time.    

Usage of Third Party Cookies

We may use third party tracking services to track and analyze Anonymous Information, about Users of our Site and Services. Such third parties may use Cookies to help track User behavior.  Such Cookies will not be used to associate individual Users.

How We Use Information


Personal Information

We use your Personal Information to:

  • Provide you with Services and customer support
  • Personalize the Site and Services to you;
  • To perform market analysis
  • For your convenience, to automatically populate web forms on the Site or the Services
  • Communicate with you regarding the Services
  • Respond to your requests, resolve disputes and/or troubleshoot problems; and
  • We may also use your Personal Information to create Anonymous Information records by excluding information that makes the information personally identifiable to you.

Notwithstanding the above, we use Billing Information solely to receive the applicable payments.  We do not use the search criteria you elect to use when utilizing our Services for the purposes of determining what marketing messages or advertisements we deliver to you.  However we may send you a message based on the frequency of use, or lack thereof, of the Services.

Anonymous Information

We may, through our use of Cookies and web bugs, keep you logged into our Site or Services, collect your click-stream data, and personalize your experience on the Site or Services. We may use your Anonymous Information to analyze usage patterns so that we may enhance the Site or Services, improve the content of our software, and customize the Site or Services to you. We may also use your Anonymous Information (including Cookies) to market our products and services to you on our Site, through our Services or on other websites that you may visit.  Anonymous Information collected using Third Party Cookies may be used to deliver marketing messages to you on our Site, in the Services or on other websites that you may visit. For example if you visit the Site you may be more likely to see a WealthEngine advertisement when you visit other websites.

Disclosure of Information


We may disclose certain Personal Information:

  • To third party vendors who help us provide the Services or the Site, in which case we will require such service providers to agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy;
  • To third parties to whom you ask us to send Personal Information;
  • To a parent company, any subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under a common control (collectively, “Affiliates”), in the event we have such Affiliates in the future, in which case we will require our Affiliates to honor this Privacy Policy;
  • To a company that merges with us, acquires us, or purchases our assets, in which case we will require the acquiring entity to comply with this Privacy Policy; and
  • If we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to (a) resolve disputes, investigate problems; (b) comply with relevant laws or to respond to requests from law enforcement or other government officials relating to investigations or alleged illegal activity, in which case we can (and you authorize us to) disclose Personal Information without subpoenas or warrants served on us; or (c) protect and defend our rights or property or the rights and property of you or third parties.

Anonymous Information

We may disclose Anonymous Information at our discretion.

Accessing and Controlling Your Information


If you wish to have your Personal Information deleted from our database or to discontinue the Services, you may contact us at privacy@wealthengine.com or call (301-215-5980). Within a reasonable time period after we receive your request, we will remove your Personal Information.  Please note, however, that even though you may request the deletion of your Personal Information, we may be required (by law or otherwise, such as to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems) to keep this information and not delete it (or to keep this information for a certain time) in which case we will comply with your deletion request only after we have fulfilled such requirements).  When we delete Personal Information, it will be deleted from the active database, but may remain in our archives. If you would no longer like to receive marketing e-mails from us, please follow the "Unsubscribe" instructions at the end of each email or contact us at privacy@wealthengine.com.  Your e-mail address will be removed from our marketing list.  Please understand that even if you opt-out of marketing messages, we will continue to send to email that are directly related to the Services.

You can also request your personal information by contacting us at privacy@wealthengine.com. However if you request your personal information WealthEngine may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before presenting you with your Personal Information.  If you have accessed your Personal Information and wish to have it updated or corrected, please send the request for correction, or update, to privacy@wealthengine.com; WealthEngine will process requests for modification of Personal Information within a reasonable period of time.

User Feedback


If you provide feedback to us, we may use and disclose such feedback  provided we do not associate such feedback with your Personal Information. We will collect any information contained in such feedback and will treat the Personal Information in it in accordance with this Privacy Policy.  If we were to use feedback as a testimonial all Personal Information would be removed from that testimonial. 

Third Party Sites


The Site may contain links to other websites including, without limitation, integration links to twitter.com, facebook.com, etc..  WealthEngine is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these other websites. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by us through the Site or Services and does not apply to these third party websites.  We encourage our Users to read the privacy policies of each and every website they visit.  Users should always use caution and common sense when choosing to provide Personal Information on the Internet, particularly when it comes to information such as credit cards and other payment information. The ability to access information of third parties from the Site or Services is for your convenience and does not signify our endorsement of such third parties, their services, other websites, locations or their contents.

Additionally, WealthEngine may also offer the opportunity to participate in dialogue on the Site or Services through your account with another website, such as, without limitation, facebook, and information from that other account may become available through the Site or Services; if you do not wish to make this information available, please abstain from participating in such a dialogue on the Site or Services.  WealthEngine will not collect additional Personal Information that becomes available on the Site or Services because of your participation in a dialogue that incorporates information from your account with another website.  Additionally if you comment on a WealthEngine sponsored blog, WealthEngine will not use such participation in the blogging process to collect additional Personal Information. 

Security


We have put in place reasonable security measures to help protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of your Personal Information. Despite such efforts, however, please note that no company, including WealthEngine, can fully eliminate risks or guarantee the security of your Personal Information; unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of information about you at any time, and we bear no liability for uses or disclosures of personal data or non-personal data arising in connection with the theft of your data.  WealthEngine conducts periodic self-assessments to verify that the attestations and assertions it makes about its privacy practices are true and that such privacy practices have been implemented as presented.

Regarding Children

The Site is not directed to children and children are not eligible to use our Services.  Protecting the privacy of children is very important to us.  We do not collect or maintain Personal Information from people we actually know are under 13 years old, and no part of the Site or Services is designed to attract people under 13 years old.  If we later obtain actual knowledge that a User is under 13 years old, we will take steps to remove that User's Personal Information from our databases.

Changes


This Privacy Policy is a living document. We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If we are going to use your Personal Information that we have previously collected in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, and you have provided us with your current email address, we will notify you at that email address of such change. In the event you have provided us with an invalid or incomplete email address, or we do not have your email address on file, a notice of any such changes will be posted to the applicable Site.  You will have a choice as to whether or not we use your Personal Information in this different manner.  Any such modifications become effective upon the earlier to occur of (i) your acknowledgement of such modifications; (ii) your continued access to and/or use of the Site or Services fifteen (15) days after we first provide you with email notification of such modifications; or (iii) if we have not provided you with an email notification of such modifications, your continued access to and/or use of the Site or Services thirty (30) days after we have first posted such notice to the applicable Site(s). 

In addition, if we make any material changes to our Privacy Policy that do not affect User information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our Site notifying Users of the change, and, at our discretion, email Users who have opted to receive communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices.  It is your sole responsibility to check the Site from time to time to view any such changes to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to any changes, if and when such changes may be made to this Privacy Policy, you must cease access to the Site and use of the Services. You give us permission to email you for the purpose of notification as described in this Section.

WealthEngine Privacy Shield Notice


Websites to which this Privacy Shield Notice ("Notice") applies are United States-based websites and are subject to United States law. Laws related to Personal Data vary by country. For example, Personal Data collected in the European Union is subject to laws based on the European Union Data Protection Directive. WealthEngine, its subsidiaries and affiliates (“WealthEngine”) are certified under the Privacy Shield privacy framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, storage, transfer, use and other processing of consumer customer, supplier and other Personal Data transferred from the European Union to the United States.
