Administrative Assistant, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Tufts University

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) is part of the University's central Advancement Division. Its mission is to maximize resources and financial support from corporations, foundations and associations - nationally and internationally - on behalf of the administration and faculty of all Tufts' schools. CFR main offices are located at 80 George Street in Medford.

The CFR staff works with faculty and administrators to create effective solicitation strategies for their projects, including identifying funding prospects and developing proposals that meet the criteria established by these funders. The CFR office maintains a library on specific funding interests and grantmaking, and extensive records of Tufts' history with hundreds of corporations and foundations.

The CFR staff works to develop and steward relationships with key staff in corporate foundation, communications, research and development and marketing divisions. Members of the CFR staff help to make possible a wide variety of corporate interactions with Tufts University, from outright gifts to sponsored research grants or technology transfer arrangements. In the process, CFR staff serve as "account managers" for corporate prospects and customers, facilitating many aspects of the overall business relationship with academic schools and departments, as well as with the offices of Grants and Contracts, Technology and Industry Collaboration, Sponsored Accounting, and Career Services, as well senior Tufts administration, including the President and the Provost.

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to the CFR team on the Boston campus, and assumes the primary receptionist duties for visitors to the 9th Floor 75 Kneeland Street University Advancement offices. She/he supports the CFR front line staff with all areas of prospect management, proposal development, stewardship, travel, maintenance of calendars, coordination of external visits to Tufts Boston, use of Advance for data entry and reports, and maintenance of appropriate elements of the department budget. Responsibilities also include general responsibility for site files, ordering supplies, and interaction with external vendors at the 75 Kneeland Street Advancement Offices. A close, effective, working relationship with the Senior Administrative Assistant for CFR in Medford is assumed.

Basic Requirements:

  • High School diploma
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in staff support and/or fast-paced, service-oriented administrative position/environment such as development
  • Basic computer/technical skills are required and a capable use of Microsoft Office programs
  • Candidate will have excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage sensitive and detailed information for several projects simultaneously
  • Superior organization, and effective interpersonal communication skills, plus evidence of being a good team member, are required

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Advance and/or other complex databases is strongly preferred. Experience in an advancement office and undergraduate degree or advanced degree is preferred but not required.
